LEARNING STANDARDS

In Flexi Online Academy, we provide the American Education System with proven successful learning standards. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are the main guide to our curriculum resources, concepts and content in Mathematics, and English Language Arts.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). CCSS define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs.

COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS

  • Are aligned with college and work expectations;
  • Are clear, understandable and consistent;
  • Include rigorous content and application of knowledge through high-order skills;
  • Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards;
  • Are informed by other top performing countries, so that all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and
  • Are evidence-based.

NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS

The Next Generation Science Standards is a multi-state effort in the United States to create new education standards that are “rich in content and practice, arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students an internationally benchmarked science education. The standards were developed by a consortium of 26 states and by the National Science
Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Research Council, and Achieve, a nonprofit organization that was also involved in developing math and English standards. The public was also invited to review the standards, and organizations such as the California Science Teachers Association encouraged this feedback. The final draft of the standards was released in April.
